Case Study: Birch Bookcase & Matching Bedside for F in Sag Harbor, NY
A tall plywood bookcase that turns a bedroom corner into a personal library.
Client: F, Sag Harbor, New York (USA)
Product: Maxi Bookcase with open cabinet (190 cm) + matching Mid-Century Nightstand
Finish: Oak stain on birch plywood
Function: A bedroom that doubles as a library
Delivery: Flat-packed, shipped to the USA
The Challenge
F wanted her bedroom to work as a personal library – a real book collection kept by the bed rather than in another room – without the corner feeling crowded or cluttered. She was looking for furniture that would:
- Hold a growing collection of books on open display, at full height
- Keep a slim footprint so a tall piece wouldn't dominate the room
- Offer a little closed storage for what didn't need to be on show
- Include a matching bedside so the corner read as one considered whole
The Solution
We built two made-to-order pieces in birch plywood, both in the same warm Oak stain: our Maxi Bookcase with open cabinet – a 190 cm tower with open shelves for the library and a closed cabinet at the base for the overflow, on the signature slim openwork frame that keeps a full-height piece feeling light – and a matching Mid-Century Nightstand with a drawer and an open shelf, in the same birch and the same Oak finish.
From the first message to the last screw, the experience is what F remembered:
“From shipping to assembling, these guys in Poland are the best. I bought this bookcase and the assorted bedside table. The packaging was more difficult to get rid of than assembling the whole thing!! Dariusz took care of checking the tracking and he was quick and very helpful when I assembled the whole thing. I recommend these guys and their beautiful furniture.”

A Corner That Reads as One Piece
The slim footprint is what makes it work: a 190 cm bookcase holds a real library without crowding the room, and the openwork frame keeps it from feeling like a wall. The open shelves turn the books into the decoration, while the lower cabinet hides what you'd rather not see. Matching the bedside to the bookcase – same birch, same Oak stain – is the small move that makes the corner feel designed rather than assembled.

Bookcase and bedside in the same birch and the same Oak finish – the corner reads as one piece.
Logistics
- Flat-packed and shipped to the USA, tracked door to door
- Assembly: straightforward – in F's words, easier than getting rid of the packaging
Furniture Built for a Reading Habit
The result is a bedroom that reads as a personal library – warm Oak against the wall, the collection on show, everything in reach of the bed. Proof that a reading habit deserves furniture built for it, and that a tall, slim bookcase with its own cabinet can do the job in a space of its own.

The matching bedside – a drawer, an open shelf, in the same Oak.
